A Peak into What I Pack

Ever wonder what a mom of twins and a toddler carries in her diaper bag? Well I'm about to show you how this perpetually prepared parent packs.

This is my diaper bag... Well one of them. I LOVE petunia pickle bottom.

I have several. It's become a bit of a problem. Don't judge me. I would say my diaper bags serve different uses because they are all different styles... but they aren't. I have another one that's exactly like this one just a different print. I find petunia bags functional and beautiful. This particular style is the Boxy Backpack in Dancing in Dublin.

This is what I can fit and carry in my diaper bag on any particular day.

That right there is:
    an iPod
    two 4 oz bottles
3 small jars of baby food - one for each baby and one as oh-my-gosh-your-STILL-hungry insurance
formula dispenser - sometimes I carry two if we are out for long amounts of time
two single-serve packs of formula - packed for emergencies
    one baby spoon
two bibs, at least one being wipeable for feeding
two mesh food feeders a godsent since the boys started solids
snack for Sofia, Annie's bunny gummies for instance
snack for the boys, like a Baby Mum Mum biscuit
    burp cloth
    bandana/handkerchief - the ultimate multi purpose tool - it's a tissue, it's a bib, it's a headband, it's a towel
    a muslin blanket - the other ultimate multi purpose tool - it's a nursing cover, it's a blanket, it's a swaddle
    pacifier pod with spare pacifier
    hand sanitizer
    baby wipes
pacifier wipes, for when one falls on the floor...
wipes case with clorox wipes and diaper bags
a toy of some sort for the boys
    sunscreen
    at least 4 diapers
a foldable water bottle to have on hand just in case, like this one
a spare onesie - we have a baby with reflux - spit-up happens
an assortment of mama essentials which include: a pen, chapstick, lipstick, eyeshadow, pill box, deodorant, nail file, tweezers, bandaids, neosporin, blister block stick, floss, tubes of lanolin, hand cream, aquaphor, and face cream, and Burt's Bees hand salve

Phew!

Sometimes I fit more stuff in there if we are going to be out all day.

How do I pack all that in there?? I use these.

Another petunia product ... like I said, don't judge me... These are powder room cases. I actually have that exact one and one of a different pattern. I also use a similar but slightly smaller case that's sequined that I bought from the Gap years ago. All the small items fit into one of the three cases so everything is organized in my bag. One case has most of the feeding items, one case holds the mama essentials, and one case acts like a mini first aid kit and holds all the toiletries and like items.

The Boxy Backpack has a fold out changing table in the front of the bag with three pockets that hold two diapers, the wipes case and the sanitizer. It also has two bottle pockets on either side of the bag. Thankfully both my Dr. Brown's bottles fit into one pocket so I use the other one for the iPod and my phone and anything else I want to have easy access to. Inside the main compartment of my bag are two more bottle pockets, one large zippered removable "wet bag", and two more pockets. I try not to fill the pockets inside the bag too fill to allow more space in the main middle part. The wet bag holds the backpack straps for the bag itself and I put the sunscreen, onesie, handkerchief and burp rag in the other  pockets. Then the main middle section of the diaper bag hold all three of my cases side by side and two of the baby food jars and the formula dispenser stacked one on top of the other. The only things left are the diaper wipes, muslin blanket, toy and sometimes one of the bibs which I just throw on top since I want those to be uber-accessible.

I usually do not need to bring a separate purse for myself since everything I need is in here, so I zip up the bag and throw my wallet on top before folding over the flap.

Wa-la!

Although I don't think absolutely everything in my diaper bag is essential, I do think everything in there serves a good purpose. I also have a box of spares in my car - namely extra diapers, wipes, and clothes.

So there you go. What I carry with me. Is it as amazing as you thought it would be?

  1. Wow! You are so organized with your diaper bag. I love the smaller bags for the small items. I'm going to have to do that! Impressive!

  2. Wow. All I can say is... wow. That's a lot of stuff. You must have a super strong back. I think every mom deserves an assortment of bags, but then again, I too have a problem.

  3. It's actually not that heavy. But even so, with two babies to lug around, I almost always have a stroller to hang it off of.

And the small bags work wonders. If I need to feed someone, I just pull out the case with all the feeding items and I have everything right there. The powder room cases are a perfect size but any ol' cosmetic bad type case or pencil pouch would work fine.
